Gala benéfica Ilusión

El miércoles 24 de agosto ha tenido lugar en la Sala Pelícano la gala benéfica Ilusión, cuya recaudación solidaria se ha destinado a Cáritas y a la I.B.S. Padre Rubinos. Los doscientos asistentes, entre los que se encontraban entre otros el Presidente de la Xunta de Galicia, han podido degustar de una cena y de un excepcional espectáculo de artistas circenses, entre los que se encontraban excomponentes del Circo del Sol, como Erika Lemay. 

No quisieron perderse la cita el presidente de la Xunta, Alberto Núñez Feijoo;la conselleira de Medio Ambiente, Beatriz Mato, o el exalcalde coruñésFrancisco Vázquez. Pero tampoco faltaron caras conocidas fuera del ámbito político, como el futbolista del Dépor Pedro Mosquera o el propietario del Pelícano y anfitrión de la noche, el empresario Juan Carlos Rodríguez Cebrián.

La música, el vaivén de las luces, la espectacular lámpara de cristales que presidió el centro de la sala y los sorprendentes equilibrios de artistas con un currículo intachable convirtieron el espectáculo en lo que, durante algo más de dos horas, pareció un sueño lleno de magia.

Pero, como explicó la presentadora de la velada, la actriz y tertuliana de televisión Bibiana Fernández, «la verdadera magia es la finalidad de esta gala», que no fue otra que contribuir para ayudar a los que más lo necesitan.

Businessmen, politicians, members of various entities of Galician society were wowed by Erika Lemay's Physical Poetry during the charitygala Illusion, an act of solidarity with proceeds earmarked for social charity institution Father Rubinos in the unique concert Hall El Pelicano, A Coruña, Spain.

Amancio Ortega Foundation

A personal initiative of Amancio Ortega himself, whose professional focus is mainly in the fields of education and social aid. The foundation's principles are solidarity, understanding, commitment, hard work, genuineness and loyalty. Every year, along with the Barrie Foundation, Ortega's foundation sponsors 75 secondary school scholarships to enable students in schools throughout Galicia to spend a year studying in the United States.

In October 2012, the Amancio Ortega Foundationand Caritas Spain signed a partnership agreement whereby the foundation made $22 million available for the basic assistance and primary care programs of Caritas, a charitable organization of the Catholic Church, supporting societal development and fostering the traditions of charity and social work. In 2009, the foundation co-funded the construction of new premises for the non-profit Padre Rubinos Shelter. Other notable undertakings of the foundation include: funding the construction of new premises for Proxecto Home Galicia; The construction of nine schools in the Public Network of Galicia Children Schools; An agricultural training project in Tanzania; and participation in the educational "Ponte dos Brozos Project", which encourages the use of technology as a teaching tool in classrooms. Besides, Ortega also co-founded the Paideia Galiza Foundation, which donates primarily to the mentally and physically challenged.
